Neglected child

I built this website to try to help other people, but unless I find better ways to bring them here it won’t help much. The same thing is true if you build your own website too. That’s one reason I have neglected updating here, I’ve been learning and earning other places.

One good way to do that is by contributing to other websites with content that helps solve common problems other people have. The broader your scope, the more likely you are to attract attention. Once someone starts following your trail the better chance you have they will find what you eventually want them to.

I call this the breadcrumb theory. If you wanted to catch some birds, would you go waving a blanket in the air to trap them, or lay a trail of breadcrumbs on the lawn for them to follow?

So if you want more traffic to your website, follow these breadcrumbs by Clicking Here

FREE Pay Per Click Ads

Alright so you have a website you think is going to be a real killer, but as long as it remains unseen, you will never know. You can join a few traffic exchanges and it will show up on hundreds of monitors, but that doesn’t guarantee it will be seen.

What the big guns do is buy some AdWords Pay Per Click ads and try to balance the high price per visitor against the potential for profit, but the only real sure winner is Google.

What I am doing now is using Leads Leap where you can get absolutely free Pay Per Click advertising to people who are targeted as online marketers and promoters. They wouldn’t be there if they didn’t have that interest.

You agree to receive a newsletter a couple times a week and it will contain a selection of ads along the side, just like Google does. There are also random ads on the website and the Blog that link back to our websites. You get credits for clicking on the ones that interest you, but there is a 10 per day limit so you can’t just go crazy and stockpile a bunch of them. I started seeing results after the first day I ran my ad.

As if that wasn’t enough, they hand out more bonuses to help you learn to write better ads and build a larger list, as well as tools to stay organized, and it’s all free. I think it’s one of the best advertising bargains I have seen online. If it sounds interesting, Click Here

Blogger vs. Wordpress

Setting up a blog is not hard at all and can bring a lot of recognition and qualified traffic your way no matter what your interest is. So which system is best?

It’s just my opinion, but I think Wordpress wins hands down for the presentation. There are hundreds of free themes to work with and since you can control the hosting, it’s simple to modify the graphics or colors to make it look unique. I have never seen a Blogger page as cool as http://OnlyMy2CentsWorth.com

On the other hand, if you want a blog with simple chronological entries about your activities like http://couchcash.blogspot.com it’s pretty hard to beat the instant set up you get with Blogger, especially with their new interface. Then as you visit other Blogger pages, leaving a comment (NOT Spam!) that invokes a touch or curiosity can generate links back to your Blogger profile almost push-button style, seriously it’s dead simple and it works.

So the bottom line is I use BOTH!

Free Tutorials

I realize that the most popular activity on YouTube is watching videos for entertainment, but have you considered what you can learn there for FREE?

I find new tutorials all the time that increase my skills and locate free resources. Use the search box to dig around and it might amaze you what you can find.

I have been a strong supporter of Adobe Photoshop Elements (and will probably remain one) but I do realize that even $20 for an older version is a strain for some newbies, so I became quite engaged with some of the tutorials I found for using The Gimp, which is a free graphics editor.

Here’s an example:

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

So do some digging around on your own and let us know if you find any good ones. Sometimes you need to go through some real duds to find the gems, of you can just check back here.
